Four Steps for Bicycle Maintenance
1. Preface
As a mechanical equipment, periodic maintenance is necessary to keep the bicycle in good condition all the time.
Mountain bikes are used in relatively harsh environments, so the work in this area is more important. Especially in rainy and muddy environments, the maintenance work must be carried out as soon as possible after riding.
2. Cleaning
When the bicycle is covered with mud and the pipeline is polluted, it is necessary to give the bicycle a full bath.
It should be noted that there are many bearing parts in the bicycle, which are very taboo against water intrusion, so when cleaning, do not use high-pressure water flow, where there are bearings, special care should be taken.
The first step is to clean the chain first. Please refer to the cleaning part of the chain and oil. The difference is that since the car is to be cleaned immediately afterwards, it is not necessary to wipe the chain very dry. Just wipe off the cleaning liquid.
Step 2: Prepare the cleaning liquid in the container and use the detergent in the kitchen. Do not use detergent and other corrosive varieties, although clean, but later easy to lead to screw rust.
The third step is to wet the whole car with water pipes to make the dirt soften and fall off. Where there is no bearing dirt and the dirt is more stubborn, it's okay to use larger water pressure to wash it out. The next step can solve them.
Step 4 If you don't use the disc brake system, this step can be skipped.
Separately use a clean sponge (special for disc brakes), glue the unused cleaning liquid prepared for the second step, and clean the disc and caliper parts. After washing, the sponge will be put aside and used later.
Step 5: Use another sponge and stick on the cleaning fluid to clean the surface of the whole car, including the front fork, frame, brake (non-disc brake), seat cushion rod, transmission, car ring, spoke, crank, pedal, line pipe, etc., and then rinse with water. For some fine points of front and rear transmission, where the sponge can't go deep, it can be solved by sticking cleaning fluid with a long brush.
The sixth step is to use a long handle hard brush to deal with the discs and flywheels. Firstly, stick the cleaning fluid on the brush, place the brush on the discs and flywheels, then rotate the crank, rotate a few circles, and then change the speed to make the chain leave the original position of the discs and flywheels, then reach the brush, and clean the original part under the chain. Finally, rinse with water.
It should be noted that do not let the water immerse in the flower drum and the central axis, especially for products that do not seal well. Some badly sealed flower drums cannot be cleaned in this way.
The seventh step is to treat the tire surface with a wide and hard brush, then stick the brush to the cleaning fluid, brush the tire surface in turn, and remove the clay, stone and other things in the slot of the teeth. Finally, rinse out.
Step 8 Water the whole car to remove the residual cleaning fluid.
Step 9: Use the special sponge for disc brake which has just been put aside to clean the disc and calipers again. Do not stick the contaminated cleaning liquid. The cleaning liquid contained in the sponge is enough. The aim is to prevent the dishes and calipers from being re-contaminated during the front cleaning process.
Step 10 Now, water the car thoroughly. The cleaning process is over.
3. Drying
Take the cleaned bike to the drying place and do the following steps.
The first step is to lift the car with both hands, about twenty or thirty centimeters from the ground, then let go, repeat several times, and drop the droplets sticking to the bike.
Step 2 Some bikes are designed with drains. Raise the foreword, so that the body and the ground are almost vertical, so that the residual water in the car is discharged from the drainage outlets of the five-way, frame and so on.
Step 3: Dry the whole car with a dry cloth, especially the surface of the wire, the wall of the front fork, except the disc brake disc, let it air-dry naturally, of course, you can also use a special cloth to deal with it.
For quick disassembly groups, you can also disassemble the wheels to facilitate air drying. Note that the chain should be as dry as possible.
If there is sun, it is better to bask in the sun for a period of time, which is conducive to the chain interior and other fine points of drying, only cloth can not be completely wiped.
After the exposed part of the brake transmission wire dries, adjust the brake transmission, loosen the brake line and the transmission line, wipe the wire inside the line tube, and continue to dry.
4. Oiling.
If the wheel has been removed before, install and reset the group to ensure that the quick disassembly lock is in place. If there are bearings in the oiling area below, it will be invalid; bearing maintenance needs to be carried out separately.
Step 1: Oil the transmission line and brake line, and then install and reset the line pipe.
Step 2 Oil the rotating parts of the brake rod and the speed bar (referring system):
Step 3 Oil the front swing part:
Step 4: Oil the rear transfer part:
Step 5: Oil the chain. Please refer to the cleaning and oiling part of the chain.
Step 6 For the self-locking pedal, oil the locking part to prevent rust:
Step 7 Oil the front fork wall:
Finally, wipe off the excess oil on the surface of the parts, including chains, flywheels, dental discs and other places.
